In accordance with the requirements of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), I commit to the following: Written Information At the start of your counselling process, I will ask you to fill out a simple personal details form. I commit to keeping your personal information safe and secure. Your data will be used only for practical administrative purposes, such as arranging and confirming next appointments.
Verbal Information Everything discussed between us in our sessions will be treated by me with confidentiality. However, if I believed that you intended to cause serious and imminent harm to yourself or others, I would have a legal obligation to break confidentiality.
Supervision In accordance with the ethical guidelines of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I meet with a supervisor for ongoing professional development. My clients' identities are kept private from my supervisor. As a further safeguard, my supervisor is also bound by a commitment to confidentiality.
Record-keeping I sometimes make brief notes about counselling sessions, which I keep securely. You are welcome to request access to notes about our sessions.
Disposal of Records When you end your counselling process, I will destroy my copy of your personal details form and any notes of our work together.
