I work as a counsellor from the Person- Centred approach which is based on the philosophy that we all have an innate tendency to thrive, become our true selves and live a life that is rewarding and purposeful.
What can happen along the way is that through certain conditions in our upbringing, life experiences and relationships, our ability to thrive can be thwarted, and blocked to some extent, often resulting in anxiety, low mood, and self- limiting patterns of being in the world.
As a Person- Centred Counsellor, my aim is to create a therapeutic space where you can explore what is happening in your life, how you feel in and about yourself, and to express your true thoughts and feelings without feeling judged. Going at your own pace, and in your own direction, I shall be supporting you in accepting and understanding yourself better, so that you can value the person you are and trust your judgement about the way you want to live your life. Through this process, people tend to find their own answers to the difficulties they may be experiencing and learn how to be true to themselves more confidently. Talking with someone who does not know you personally also allows you to express more easily those difficult feelings and thoughts that can otherwise keep you feeling blocked, stuck and overwhelmed.
I offer Person Centred Counselling both on an agreed time period or an open - ended basis.
Counselling is more often to do with current issues that can be explored in a shorter time frame and without necessarily talking about childhood experiences in depth.
